Signs You Have a Clogged Drain
common Questions
What’s the difference between snaking and hydro-jetting?
Snaking (cable cleaning) punches through a clog mechanically. It’s effective for soft blockages but leaves residue on pipe walls. Hydro-jetting scours the entire pipe interior with high-pressure water, removing grease, scale, and buildup completely. Hydro-jetting lasts significantly longer.
Why does my drain keep clogging in the same spot?
Recurring clogs usually mean an underlying issue: a partial root intrusion, a pipe sag (low spot that catches debris), or a buildup layer that snaking isn’t fully clearing. Camera inspection reveals the cause so we can fix it permanently.
Can I use store-bought drain cleaner?
Liquid drain cleaners like Drano can temporarily clear soft clogs but they also corrode older pipes and kill beneficial bacteria in septic systems. They do nothing for root intrusions or structural issues. We don’t recommend them for recurring problems.
How often should drains be cleaned?
Kitchen sink lines benefit from annual or biannual cleaning in heavy-use homes. Main sewer lines benefit from camera inspection every 3–5 years, or sooner if you have mature trees near the sewer line.
