FAQ

common Questions

How can I tell if I have a gas leak?

Natural gas has mercaptan added to give it a ‘rotten egg’ or sulfur smell. Other signs: a hissing sound near gas lines, dead vegetation above buried lines, or bubbling in standing water near gas pipes. If you suspect a leak, follow the emergency steps above.

Are you licensed to work on gas lines in Texas?

Yes. Texas law requires a licensed plumber to perform gas line work on residential properties. Lloyd’s holds Lic# TX-M-20948 which covers both plumbing and gas piping. We pull all required permits.

What materials are used for residential gas lines?

Black steel pipe is traditional and highly durable. Corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) is flexible and used for appliance connections and new runs. We use the correct material for each application per current Texas code.

Can you run a gas line to my outdoor grill or generator?

Yes — this is one of our most common requests. We size the line for your appliance, run it from the nearest supply point, install a proper shutoff valve, and test the completed system before we leave.
